What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a form of psychological treatment that involves talking with a licensed mental health professional to help individuals identify and manage symptoms of psychological distress. Through this process, individuals can gain insight into their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. They can learn coping strategies, ways to increase self-esteem, explore relationship issues and better understand themselves.

Psychotherapy typically focuses on addressing the underlying causes of distress or impairing functioning in order to improve overall well-being. It also involves helping people develop skills for managing stressors more effectively and improving communication within relationships. The goal is to provide a safe environment where individuals are able to explore their feelings without judgment or pressure, as well as work towards healthier ways of thinking and being in the world in order to achieve improved well-being.
